I am self-taught. My primary works are in two and three dimensions. I employ fabrics the way other artists use paint. In my two dimensional pieces fabrics create the images. My sculptures have fabric surfaces. My pieces are representational, portraying people of color. At the same time, due to the use of fabrics, they contain abstract elements, are colorful, textured and whimsical.
I began presenting my work in juried exhibitions in 2005. I have received awards in many of the shows in which I have participated. These including a best in show and purchase award for excellence on consecutive weekends in May, 2013 at the New Orleans Jazz Festival and Charlotte Fine Arts Festival respectively.
I am a CPA and a former VP, CFO and college professor (accounting and finance). I now live in the west end of Atlanta GA where I paint, write poetry and perform community service.
